Capital Area Food Bank

Over one-fifth of Washington, D.C., residents live in poverty, a statistic which affects the wellbeing of our whole community.

To improve the lives of our neighbors, we support systematic approaches that address the root causes of the region’s largest challenges, such as hunger and homelessness, while also addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable populations. We also build the capacity of local nonprofits and appreciate the work of cultural and arts organizations whose efforts help create a more vibrant community. The Foundation is geographically focused on supporting organizations working in the Washington, D.C., region.

Food Security

Our goal is to ensure that no individual in Washington, D.C., goes hungry due to a lack of sustained access to healthy, fresh food.

Safety Net Services

We work to ensure that any individual in our community who reaches out for help receives the immediate care they need and the necessary support to plan for and achieve a better future.

Arts and Culture

We support cultural institutions and the advancement of the arts through educational programming.

Vibrant Communities

Through capacity building of local nonprofits or direct support to community-focused organizations, our goal is a safe, diverse, and vibrant community for all.
